The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a full-time, open professorial rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full), tenure-track faculty position in real estate. To be considered for a tenure-track position with indefinite tenure, the candidate should have a strong research record publishing in top Finance and Economics outlets such as the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the American Economic Review, etc.
The position will commence with the Fall 2025 semester, and the faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in real estate, as well as engage as a member of the White Ruffin Byron Center for Real Estate (www.commerce.virginia.edu/centers/crebe), which supports the University of Virginia’s growing pan-university real estate initiatives. Through the Center, the faculty member will have the strong support of McIntire and UVA alums, parents, friends in the real estate industry, and the Center’s executive director to gather resources crucial for expanding a world-class real estate program and reinforcing the School’s standing as one of the nation’s innovators in business education.
A Ph.D. degree in finance, economics, or real estate-related disciplines is required. Previous experience as a faculty member at an AACSB-accredited institution, evidence of excellence in teaching real estate or related courses, and demonstrated real estate thought leadership are preferred. Significant experience in real estate investments or development is also preferred. The faculty member will be a member of the Finance Area within the McIntire School and have the opportunity to develop close working relationships with faculty in other schools across the University.
