Stuart School of Business (“Stuart”) at the Illinois Institute of Technology (“Illinois Tech”) seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Finance. The ideal candidate will be strong in applied portfolio management, risk management, and/or financial technology. A sound background in empirical methods is also strongly desired. The candidate must fit in well with Stuart’s culture of multidisciplinary teaching and research at the interface of business and technology, spanning more than 125 years of business education at Illinois Tech. The position will require teaching courses that cover and incorporate all aspects of core finance disciplines as well as their application to markets, trading, risk management, and investment analysis. The ability to teach undergraduate Economics, Financial Management, and similar courses is also a plus.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in undergraduate and graduate business programs, including courses in the Ph.D. program in Finance. Stuart highly encourages collaborative research across its core disciplinary pillars of management, finance, economics, and analytics, supporting the school’s long-standing history as an innovator in those disciplinary pillars, offering some of the world’s first programs that combine one of the core disciplines with technology, data-driven methodologies, and tight integration with the business community.
Qualifications, Responsibilities, and Compensation
The applicant must have a Ph.D. by August 2025 in a relevant business discipline from an accredited university, preferably in Finance, Financial Economics, Management Science with a concentration in Finance, or a closely related discipline, possess strong teaching skills, and demonstrate the ability to publish in refereed journals.
Responsibilities include teaching courses at all levels and conducting research consistent with the expectations of a doctoral granting university. Salary is competitive. Benefits include comprehensive health/dental/vision/life and disability insurance options.
