Position Summary: Gettysburg College invites applications for an open rank visiting faculty position in the Department of Economics. This position will be hired for a three-year term, renewable each year based on a favorable performance review. Given our mission-inscribed values to effect change for the greater good, our search is grounded in our Economics Department’s commitment to the values of diversity, equity and inclusion. This position will support the college’s new Finance major, which is jointly managed by the Economics and Management Departments. The successful candidate will teach financial econometrics, advanced quantitative finance courses as well as introductory and intermediate micro and/or macro economics, and will advise students in the major after the first year. The teaching load is the equivalent of 3 courses each semester. The appointment begins Fall 2025.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should be committed to teaching in the liberal arts tradition and engage in a program of research that informs their teaching. Applicants must have teaching experience at the undergraduate level in finance, hold a Ph.D. in Finance or Economics, and expect to complete their Ph.D. before August 2025. Research experience is desirable. We are actively seeking highly qualified candidates that come from underrepresented groups. Applicants should be able to demonstrate in their materials a trajectory of pro-active, intentional, and ongoing efforts in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in their pedagogical practices.

Application Details: A cover letter that addresses the candidate’s teaching experience, potential course offerings, research, and ability to contribute to diversity and inclusion, an example of recent research, a curriculum vitae, and contact information for three professional references must be submitted through Gettysburg College’s online system:
https://gettysburg.peopleadmin.com/postings/5644.

References will be contacted by Gettysburg College via email to submit letters of recommendation electronically. Review of applications will begin immediately, with on-campus interviews anticipated for February 2025, but applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. Inquiries can be addressed to Professor Linus Nyiwul, Economics Department chair, at lnyiwul@gettysburg.edu
