The Department of Finance in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor tenure-track or Associate Professor with tenure.  Appointment begins in August 2025, salary is highly competitive and dependent upon qualifications and rank. 

Essential Functions:  The candidate must contribute to the mission of the W. P. Carey School of Business and the Department of Finance in the areas of research, teaching and service. Candidates must conduct high quality research that is publishable/published in the department’s top-tier academic journals; effectively teach finance courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level; serve as a research mentor to doctoral students; and interact effectively with colleagues to support and enhance the intellectual atmosphere of the department.

Qualifications

For Assistant Professor applications:

Required Qualifications:  1) A PhD in Finance or a closely related field; ABD candidates must be close to earning that doctorate by the position start date; 2) Evidence of potential for excellence in research publications at top-tier journals. 

Desired Qualifications:  1) A strong research agenda in finance, with ideally published or forthcoming papers in top-tier academic journals; 2) Demonstrated evidence of teaching potential for excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

For Associate Professor applications:

Required Qualifications:  1) A PhD in Finance or a closely related field; 2) A record of research excellence as evidenced by papers published in premier academic journals; 3) An active and ambitious research agenda and demonstrated leadership within the finance profession; 4) A demonstrated record of teaching excellence.

Desired Qualifications:  1) Significant service and contribution to the finance profession as evidenced by current or past editorial board memberships of premier academic journals, invited seminar presentations and conference organization; 2) Record of excellence in PhD student supervision.

The application deadline is November 24, 2024.  Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool.  Applications in the reserve pool may then be reviewed in the order in which they were received until the position is filled.
