The Finance Department at HEC Montréal invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position starting in the academic year 2025/2026. Candidates are sought in all areas of finance.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & DESCRIPTION:
- Candidates should hold a doctorate in Finance (or in a related field) or be close to the completion of their doctorate degree. Candidates should be promising scholars. Successful candidates will be expected to publish research in leading journals and to teach high-quality graduate and undergraduate Finance courses.
The typical teaching load for new assistant professors is 3 courses per year for the first two years. Publications are financially rewarded based on journal ranking.
The main language of instruction at HEC Montréal is French, and some courses and programs are offered in English. Proficiency in English is required to teach courses in this language, to communicate with non-French-speaking students, and to carry out certain research activities. The person must be able to teach and work in French after 2 years in the position. Substantial support will be provided by HEC Montréal to help achieve this objective, in an environment conducive to improving French language skills. It is strongly recommended to mention any prior knowledge of French in your application file.

Founded in 1907, HEC Montréal is the business school affiliated with the Université de Montréal. It is the 2nd oldest business school in North America. Accredited by AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS, HEC Montréal offers programs in finance from BBA to PhD, and boasts 35 chairs, 32 research groups, and a fully functional trading room. The Department of Finance at HEC Montréal hosts the Canadian Derivatives Institute, the Financial Education Lab, and the Canada Research Chair in Risk Management. The Finance Department has over 20 full-time faculty members with a wide variety of research interests and organizes an active seminar series.
