Director of the Silk Investment Institute at the School of Management, University of San Francisco

Job Summary:
The Director of the Silk Investment Institute (SII) is responsible for the overall supervision of the SII. The Director reports to the Dean of the School of Management, and provides administrative and operational support to the Faculty Sr. Director of the SII. The Director works closely with the Faculty Sr. Director to execute on the strategic and programmatic goals of the SII.


Silk Investment Institute (SII) is being launched by University of San Francisco Trustee Jeff Silk '87 and his wife Naomi Silk. SII will offer degree and non-degree programs in investments, will house a Silk Investment Lab, and a student-managed fund. In addition, the SII will continue to support highly popular Silk Nobel Laureates Speaker Series, and will launch a financial literacy initiative for the underserved communities of San Francisco.

Full Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee the preparation and monitoring of SII budgets. Review expense reports and invoices.
• Oversee the degree and non-degree programs offered by the SII (e.g., investment minor, bootcamps for high school students, financial literacy programs).
• Ensure the smooth operations of the Silk Investment Lab (e.g., planning, scheduling, and hosting events, ensuring staffing to support faculty and students).
• Interact with faculty to promote and support the integration of Silk Investment Lab resources and financial tools into finance courses.
• Coordinate the logistics of the Nobel speaker series and other guest speaker events with the Sr. Director and relevant units on campus.
• Work on the marketing and recruiting efforts for SII (e.g., design brochures for local high school students, maintain SII website, and social media accounts).
• Work on the internship and job placement efforts for the students enrolled in SII programs.
• Teach investment courses, design capital markets related assignments and projects, non-degree programs, and develop tutorials for faculty and students.
• Hire, train, and supervise student workers for the SII.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Faculty Sr. Director of the SII.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related discipline required; Master's degree in business or a related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of seven years of professional experience plus a minimum of five years' experience in Finance or related field. Experience working in a higher education setting, or experience managing an executive's calendar is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills and the ability to prioritize among complex and competing tasks and expectations.
• Ability to exercise a high level of diplomacy, discretion, emotional intelligence, and confidentiality.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, and rapidly changing work environment.
• Advanced competency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, project management and task sharing tools.
• Previous experience in the asset management industry, having the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) charter, or the experience teaching at the college/university level is a strong plus.

An ability to use programs and software such as Bloomberg, FactSet, STATA, MATLAB, R, Python or others is a strong plus.

$112,000 - $130,000 annualized; commensurate with experience
