Position

The E. J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University is excited to invite applications for the position of chair of the Department of Finance. Eligible applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Professor and will hold an appointment to the Lloyd F. Collette Endowed Chair of Financial Services.

With approximately 750 students, the Department of Finance has one of the college’s largest and fastest-growing undergraduate programs and offers well-regarded Master’s and doctoral degrees in finance. Additionally, the department supports several outstanding teaching and research units, including the Securities Markets Analysis Research and Trading (SMART) Lab, the Real Estate Research Institute, the student-managed Tiger Fund, a collaborative project with the LSU Foundation, and the Venture Capital Apprentice Program. In alignment with the college’s 2021-2026 Strategic Plan and LSU's Scholarship First Agenda, we seek applicants who can work with college leadership, alumni, corporate partners, and development officers to enhance and expand opportunities for students pursuing careers in finance and support continued growth in faculty research excellence.

The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with the passion, determination, and expertise to amplify the Department of Finance’s existing successes and assets. Reporting directly to the dean of the E. J. Ourso College, the chair will oversee the academic leadership of the department in research, teaching, and service. Their mission is to foster and enhance the department’s vital connection with the finance profession. Furthermore, the chair will spearhead initiatives to craft a strategic plan providing an innovative vision for elevating the Department of Finance to national prominence.

Requirements

A doctoral degree in finance or related field; possess a record of scholarship commensurate with appointment as an endowed academic chair.

The position is anticipated to begin July 1, 2024. Those interested in the position should submit a CV, letter of interest, and a personal statement on the candidate’s vision for administration, leadership, and philosophy, and plans for research, teaching, and service.
