Job Details

The C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston seeks qualified applicants for two tenure-track Assistant Professor Positions in the Department of Finance, starting in the fall of 2023. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in finance or economics (or A.B.D.) and exhibit promise for high-quality research.

The Finance department at the Bauer College of Business has been successful in attracting excellent researchers at the senior and junior levels. For details about the faculty, research, and publications, visit the department website at bauer.uh.edu/finance.

The Bauer College is home to 5,600 undergraduate students and 900 graduate students, offering undergraduate degree, MBA degrees, MS degrees in finance and other areas, and Ph.D. degrees. The Ph.D. program has seen a substantial uplift in quality in recent years.

The Bauer College benefits from hosting several industry-supported centers. The AIM Center for Investment Management is a state of the art trading and research facility; it houses the Cougar Investment Fund, LLC, a student-managed investment fund (with about $12 million under management). The Gutierrez Energy Management Institute is an excellent finance education and research resource for the energy industry, actively supported by its corporate members. The Stanford Alexander Center is a joint initiative with Houston’s real estate professional community.

Houston offers a great professional and personal environment. The two largest economic sectors are energy and medical research and services; there is a large number of manufacturing and technology businesses, many of them spawned by decades of NASA operations in the Houston area. Four out of five jobs are services and professional jobs. The cost of living enables a high quality of life, where one can have suburban living in the heart of a great metropolis that is among the most diverse cities in the country.

The University of Houston is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action institution. Veterans, minorities, women, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
