ABOUT THE POSITION: The College of Business at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a tenure-track position in finance with an emphasis on corporate finance at the assistant professor level. We seek applicants who welcome the challenges and rewards of serving on a diverse and intellectually curious faculty of a growing college located in a dynamic and supportive high-tech community.      

 

Responsibilities: Conduct and publish high-quality scholarly research in a collegial environment where both intra- and inter-disciplinary collaborations are valued. Effectively teach finance and related courses in graduate and undergraduate programs in face-to-face or online modes as needed by the college. Participate actively in the profession, university service, and outreach to the local community.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in finance or a closely related field is required. A Ph.D. from an AACSB accredited institution is preferred. Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in finance with an emphasis on corporate finance is required. We prefer candidates who have a strong academic background, the ability to conduct research publishable in high quality journals, a commitment to excellence in graduate and undergraduate education, and the potential to expand student interest and engagement in the finance major. We also prefer candidates who have teaching interests in multiple areas such as commercial bank management and international finance in addition to corporate finance. ABDs will be considered; however, all requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed by August 1, 2023 to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Business is accredited by AACSB International and has approximately 29 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 35 clinical and part-time faculty, 1,020 undergraduates, and 460 graduate students. The college offers a BSBA degree with majors in management, marketing, information systems, accounting, and finance; a BS degree in economics and computational analysis; and seven graduate degrees: an MBA, and specialized masters’ degrees in accounting, business analytics, cybersecurity, human resource management, information systems, as well as supply chain and logistics management.
