$7,500.00 - $8,750.00 Per Month ($90,000.00 - $105,000.00 Annually)

Position Summary


Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Administration, this position is responsible for improving the University's by planning and conducting financial, compliance, IT and operational audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls. Research and analyze a wide variety of highly technical and complex processes and policies. Recommend feasible, comprehensive solutions, improvements in efficiency and compliance with regulations. Facilitate the communication of audit results through written reports and oral presentations to appropriate department executive management. In this position, the incumbent also coordinates implementing and maintaining a campus-wide centralized policy and procedures program.


Position Information


• Assist in coordinating audits initiated by the CSU Office of the University Auditor, audits led by outsourced auditors reviewing the University and its auxiliaries, and other auditors and regulators.

• Assist in coordinating and developing the University's responses to audit findings and recommendations. Work with management to obtain agreement on action plans to address audit issues

• Participate in various committees or task forces related to policy/procedure development and operational improvements

• When necessary, provide training to administrators to promote awareness of internal controls, business risks, fraud and other related topics


• Perform special investigations as requested by the President, Vice President, or Executive Director of Administration.

• Create and edit publishable reports on audit topics as assigned by the Executive Director of Administration.

• Review organizational activities assigned following departmental standards, as well as the Standards for the Professional Practice of Audit & Advisory Services

• Identify potential IT risks and related issues by applying knowledge of information technology industry trends.

• Plan, implement and generate reports on IT security and governance reviews and IT general and application control audits.

• Add value to and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the IT audit function by leading best practices for standards and procedures.


• Facilitate the development and revision of campus policies, track policy updates and revisions, and maintain a campuswide website for University Executive Directives and policies

• Collaborate with subject matter experts in departments across campus and guide policy development

• Create guidelines, templates, and other resources related to policy and governance that are made available to campus constituents

• Serve as a resource for campus stakeholders on questions and issues relating to policies and policy development

Minimum Qualifications


• A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with strong preference given to applicants with Certified Internal Auditor designation and extensive experience with Internal Audit functions. Excellent knowledge of University/public financial business operations and risk-based auditing attained through 7 years of progressive audit work experience with a focus on financial risk and regulatory requirements

• Demonstrated ability to research and analyze data and use data to develop findings and formulate policies and procedures

• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and, when required, supervise auditors to follow sound internal control practices and manage risks appropriately

• Demonstrated adaptability and ability to work strategically, meet deadlines and objectives and juggle multiple demands in a fast-paced, multi-task work environment

• Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively prioritize and coordinate multiple deliverables simultaneously

• Eagerness to learn in diverse areas, as well as possess a solid ability to work independently to produce desired results


Preferred Qualifications


• Two to five years' experience, preferably in higher education

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Excellent time management and organization skills

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational lines in a diverse work environment

• Strong skills in negotiation, relationship building, problem-solving and timely problem escalation
