The School of Accounting and Finance is the longest established accounting school in Hong Kong with over 80 full-time academic and teaching staff in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, and law.  The School has adequate resources to support a variety of research interests and activities, and has comparative advantage in promoting cross-disciplinary research that is needed in the modern business world.  The School has maintained an excellent network with overseas and Chinese Mainland institutions for collaborative work.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is one of the world’s leading universities which ranked 66th in the QS World University Rankings 2022.  The research of our Faculty of Business has been ranked 59th in the world (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based on research contributions for the period 2016-2020).  During the last few years, faculty members were successful in publishing their research papers in top-tier refereed journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies and Contemporary Accounting Research.

The HKSAR is an international city located strategically at the heart of Asia and is the gateway to Chinese Mainland, with excellent transport links to major international cities.  The University’s campus is located near the harbour connecting Kowloon and the Hong Kong Island, and in the vicinity of Tsim Sha Tsui, which is the most popular area for visitors.

Duties

The appointees will be required to:

(a)  undertake teaching at undergraduate and/or graduate levels (some evening teaching is expected);

(b)  conduct research that leads to publications in top-tier refereed journals and award of research grants;

(c)  provide leadership in research and programme/curriculum development;

(d) engage in research, high-level consultancy, and other scholarly activities;

(e)  supervise graduate student theses/dissertations;

(f)  undertake academic and administrative duties; and

(g)  perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of the School or her delegates

Qualifications

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Finance or a relevant discipline and excellent communication skills.  Applicants for the post of Assistant Professor should have the potential to secure publications in top-tier refereed journals.  For appointment at Professor and Associate Professor levels, applicants are in addition required to have:

(a)  solid experience in teaching and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research;

(b) a proven track record in conducting world-leading research and scholarships; and

(c) good networks in both academia and the profession at regional and international levels.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
