The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Bern invites applications for a faculty position in Finance at the Institute for Financial Management (www.ifm.unibe.ch), either at the Assistant (tenure-track) or at the Associate Professor level, with a preference for a candidate at the Assistant Professor level.

The anticipated start date is August 2022. The candidate is expected to conduct empirical research in Finance and demonstrate a strong commitment to scholarly research and teaching excellence. The candidate will contribute to the teaching of finance courses at the Bachelor and Master level. Teaching can be in English or in German.

Applicants at the assistant professor level must have a doctoral degree in Finance (or be close to completion) or a closely related field and demonstrate research excellence/strong potential, as indicated by refereed publications in top journals or work in progress. For an appointment at the associate professor level, an internationally recognized record of research, including publications in top academic journals and an excellent record of teaching are required.

The Institute for Financial Management encourages and supports the candidate in the acquisition of third-party research funding (ERC, SNSF). The salary is subject to the regulations of the Canton of Bern and is internationally competitive.

The University of Bern has set the aim of increasing the percentage of women in leading academic positions and thus strongly encourages qualified female scientists to apply for the position.

Please send the application, including motivation letter, curriculum vitae, one job market paper, a list of courses taught, and at least two reference letters (only for applicants at the assistant professor level and to be sent separately), by August 31, 2021 as a PDF file to application@ifm.unibe.ch
