This is an exciting opportunity to join a young and growing program with nearly 400 majors that Great Business Schools has ranked as the 3rd best academic program in the country.
The Program in Real Estate (https://realestate.vt.edu/) in the Pamplin College of Business (https://pamplin.vt.edu/) at Virginia Tech (https://vt.edu/) has an opening for a Collegiate Assistant Professor of Real Estate available Fall 2021, with a start date of no later than Fall 2022.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or a related field at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching excellence and research on applied real estate topics that support the Program in Real Estate. This is a primary teaching position with a 3:3 teaching load.
Pamplin faculty are expected to teach a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. A willingness to work collegially and collaboratively with faculty and staff of diverse backgrounds is a must.
Candidates should show evidence of experience teaching or knowledge relevant to teaching real estate finance, investments, market analysis and related courses and demonstrate promise to publish in real estate journals. Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings is expected.
The initial appointment is for three years and is renewable in accordance with university policies. Collegiate Assistant Professors are encouraged to advance in rank to Collegiate Associate Professor and Collegiate Professor. Duration of appointment increases with rank to 5 and 7 years for Associate and Professor ranks. Collegiate faculty members are expected to maintain AACSB status as Instructional Practitioner, Scholarly Practitioner, Practice Academic or Scholarly Academic.
The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Program in Real Estate and will collaborate with the Department of Finance within the Pamplin College of Business.
