Assistant Professor Position

The Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate at the University of Florida, Warrington College of Business is seeking to hire one tenure-track faculty member in Finance to start fall 2021. The position will be at the Assistant Professor level, which may be filled by either a new or an experienced Assistant Professor. This position is targeted towards candidates whose research emphasis is in the FinTech area, including finance-related research that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) approaches.

This position is part of a broader $70 million University of Florida initiative in the AI/ML space (#AI@UF; https://news.ufl.edu/2020/07/nvidia-partnership/), where UF is hiring 100 new faculty across various AI/ML initiative clusters.  FinTech is one of these AI initiative clusters, and it will include 3 new FinTech related faculty hires in the Warrington College of Business (1 in Finance (this position) and two others in the Accounting and Information System departments), as well as several other FinTech-related hires in Engineering, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Law.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or near completion) in finance or a related field such as economics. The successful candidates must demonstrate potential for research leading to publications in top refereed journals and effective teaching at the university level.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

The position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, research, and service. The position will include a teaching load of three semester courses per academic year at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels as well as high-level FinTech-related research and some service.

Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of FinTech publications in top-tier finance and economics journals or ample evidence of the ability to publish in such journals.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be competitive with top business schools. The college also offers Research Grant funding during the summer commensurate with peer universities.
