The Department of Economics and Business at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Business position beginning July 1, 2020.

Hollins is an independent, liberal arts university offering undergraduate education for women, selected graduate programs for men and women, and community outreach initiatives. The business program strives to prepare students for leadership positions in a global society, and offers a major with tracks in general business, international business, finance, and a new entrepreneurship track, along with business and international business minors, and a new minor in entrepreneurship.

The position carries a teaching load of three undergraduate, face-to-face courses per semester. Other duties include maintaining scholarly activity in the form of publications and presentations, developing curriculum, advising students, participating in department and university service, and engaging with the local business community.

The successful candidate will be someone who can teach all levels of accounting in addition to other required and elective courses in business, such as introduction to business, personal finance, and management of financial institutions. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in accounting. However, candidates who hold a Ph.D. or DBA in a relevant field, and are either CPA-certified or have the ability to teach accounting, are also encouraged to apply. ABDs may also apply. Prior teaching experience in accounting at the undergraduate level is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to teaching excellence and innovation at a liberal arts institution.
