The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in Finance. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, and will commence July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Finance or a Ph.D. in Economics with a Finance focus, with a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and deepen our existing strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation. The successful candidate for this position is expected to be actively engaged in innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding and competitive research program.

For this position, excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the applicant’s publication record. Candidates must engage in research in at least one of the following areas: empirical asset pricing, asset management, data analytics applied to financial markets, financial innovation, financial risk management. We seek individuals that publish in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies and journals of similar caliber and international standing. We seek individuals that have widely-cited research in academic journals, that have received distinguished awards and accolades, that have an active research pipeline, that present their research at significant conferences and at other highly-ranked schools, that have strong letters of reference from referees of high standing, and that are involved in other noteworthy activities in Finance that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline. The applicant must provide a research statement.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, sample course syllabi, teaching evaluations, evidence of significant classroom innovation, recognition through teaching awards, and evidence of strong communication and expository skills demonstrated during the interview and seminar presentations for short-listed candidates. Candidates are required to have experience teaching courses in professional graduate programs in at least one of the following areas: empirical asset pricing, asset management, data analytics applied to financial markets, financial risk management.

Successful candidates should also have the demonstrated capability to take an active leadership role in our professional graduate programs, including graduate supervision.

Salaries are competitive and both rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
