Bates White specializes in providing advanced economic, financial, and econometric analysis to law firms, companies, and government agencies. We help clients tackle tough issues with confidence and pride ourselves on delivering top-notch consulting and expert testimony. But what makes us successful is our commitment to providing a positive and rewarding experience—for our employees, our clients, and the community.

We are seeking candidates who expect to receive their PhD by summer 2020, as well as experienced individuals with PhDs, to work closely with senior staff, partners, and academic experts to solve advanced economic, financial, and econometric challenges for our clients. Responsibilities include economic and financial research, empirical analysis, report writing, presentation preparation, and project management.

Bates White is involved in a wide variety of high-profile finance cases. We work on issues relating to valuations, M&A transactions and other corporate events, capital markets, market manipulations, mortgage-backed securities, high-frequency trading, and a variety of other finance and economic matters. We are seeking individuals who specialize in financial economics to contribute to our finance practice and to our firm in general. We are also interested in individuals with specialties in accounting, industrial organization (IO), applied econometrics, applied microeconomics, healthcare economics, labor economics and other mathematical and quantitative methods. Candidates should possess strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to work in teams, think creatively, analyze complex data, and develop clear, concise, and logical documents.

The firm is recognized by leading academics and professionals as a premier place to work. Bates White has an innovative and entrepreneurial culture where bright minds from diverse backgrounds come together to solve difficult challenges facing legal, business, and government decision makers in the United States and around the world. In addition, the firm maintains strong relationships with key academics and industry experts.

Bates White is deeply committed to providing a quality work experience and fostering and maintaining a diverse workforce and an inclusive culture. This is evidenced in the firm’s academic focus, career development programs, and employee engagement activities (e.g., women’s network, community initiatives, and diversity-inclusion programs). Furthermore, Bates White rewards employees with highly competitive compensation and benefit programs.

For consideration, please apply via our website and send three letters of recommendation to aea2020@bateswhite.com. Please note that the application deadline is Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
