The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for a full time tenure-track faculty position in Finance at the Assistant or Associate Professor level with an expected start date of August 2020. Applications from all fields in finance are invited including - but not limited to - corporate finance, market microstructure, asset pricing, international finance, and behavioral finance. Candidates should have, or be close to completing, a Ph.D. in Finance or Economics with a specialization in financial economics. This position is part of the School’s strategic plan of hiring three to five faculty members annually over the next few years. The position is available immediately and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.


The successful candidate must provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research. At the seasoned Assistant or Associate level, we seek scholars with an established research record of publications in the Financial Times Top 50 journals or top-tier field journal in the discipline. At the Assistant level, we seek recent graduates who can demonstrate the ability to attain a superior research record by publishing in top-tier journals. Evidence of effective teaching is required, if available. She/he will teach finance courses at the Bachelor and/or the Master level. The degree must be completed before August 2020. Any experience in industry and/or government is a plus.

Finance faculty at the school are active in research in the areas of corporate finance, contract theory, energy finance, behavioral finance, macro asset pricing, and entrepreneurial finance. Candidates are expected to complement and enhance the research activities of the school with their own scholarly activities. The university offers a competitive teaching load and excellent support for faculty research.

It  gives a comprehensive foundation in financial and economic topics, as well as an understanding of common financial tools and technologies, and how to use them to exploit business opportunities. Successful candidates are expected to participate in curricular development, student advisement and the program’s robust series of public events besides the primary role of pursuing a strong research agenda.

The School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology has a special focus on information systems, analytics, and finance, and encourages interdisciplinary research.
