Assistant/Associate/Full Professor – Entrepreneurship

 

The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for tenured/tenure-track faculty positions in Entrepreneurship. We will be filling at least four positions with an expected start date of July 1, 2020.

Available Positions:

General Entrepreneurship

The Haas School seeks a faculty member who conducts research on entrepreneurship and/or innovation, with particular preference for scholars who have interacted closely with entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurial Finance

The Haas School seeks a faculty member who conducts research on entrepreneurial finance and innovation.

Biology+Business Entrepreneurship

The Haas School seeks to hire a leading researcher in healthcare entrepreneurship and/or innovation, with particular preference for scholars whose research emphasizes translational science and innovation in the life sciences, including the biotech, pharmaceutical or venture capital industries. This person is also expected to serve as the faculty co-director of the new Biology+Business joint degree program.

Entrepreneurship in Developing Economies

The Haas School seeks a faculty member who works on entrepreneurship and/or innovation in developing economies. Relevant research topics could include productivity, innovation, small and medium-sized enterprises, financing for entrepreneurial activities, start-ups, venture capital funding, incubators, and policies to promote new businesses. The faculty member hired to this position will be a full time faculty member of the Haas School of Business and will devote 50% of his or her teaching to courses relevant to the Blum Center for Developing Economies.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:  Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a PhD (or equivalent international degree) granting program at the time of application.

Preferred qualifications: We are especially interested in applicants with a PhD in Business, Accounting, Business and Public Policy, Economics, Finance, Management of Organizations, Marketing, Operations and Information Technology Management, Real Estate, or a closely related field. For the Biology+Business Entrepreneurship position we would also consider candidates with a PhD in the Life Sciences or an MD/PhD. We prefer applicants who currently have a PhD or who have advanced to PhD candidacy and will complete the doctoral degree or equivalent degree within six months of the start date.

Application Levels:

Associate/Full Professor: Individuals should submit their application at this level if they meet one of the following conditions: Current tenured professor; position equivalent to tenured professor (i.e. at an international university). Please note that this level determination is only for application review purposes, not the ultimate appointment level of the finalist.

Assistant Professor (Advanced): Individuals should submit their application at this level if they are currently employed as an assistant professor (including those who are “senior” assistant professors near tenure.) Please note that this level determination is only for application review purposes, not the ultimate appointment level of the finalist.

Assistant Professor (New/Recent PhD): Individuals should submit their application at this level if they are a current or recent PhD candidate or graduate or a current or recent postdoc. Please note that this level determination is only for application review purposes, not the ultimate appointment level of the finalist.
