Xiamen University, founded in 1921 by Mr. Tan Kah-Kee, a well-known Chinese expatriate, is located in the resort-like island of Xiamen in Southeast China. The economics and finance disciplines in Xiamen University were first established in 1921 and have a long tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Department of Finance at School of Economics, Xiamen University, has experienced a glorious history and become one of top finance programs in Mainland China. In 2005, the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics (WISE) was founded, as a recent effort by Xiamen University to build a first class modern economics and finance research institute and to facilitate international research and academic exchanges. Gregory and Paula Chow Center for Economic Research was founded in 2016 with the aim to build a world-renowned research center on modern economics and the Chinese economy.

 

The finance faculty members in WISE and Department of Finance at the School of Economics have published articles in top journals, such as Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, and Review of Financial Studies. We have successfully hosted high quality conferences, such as the 2016 China International Conference in Finance (CICF), European Financial Management 2017 Symposium, 2016 and 2018 Greater China Area Finance Conferences, 2018 International Symposium on Financial Engineering and Risk Management, and will organize more international conferences. Having successfully recruited over 90 faculty members from abroad in the past years, WISE, Department of Finance at the School of Economics, Gregory and Paula Chow Center for Economic Research still have several faculty positions available in all areas of finance at all ranks.

 

Junior candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree by August 2020 and show evidence of promising research ability. Senior candidates must have a Ph.D. degree and a demonstrably strong research record. Competitive salary, research grant and housing subsidy are provided, with a regular teaching load of 2 courses per year. All faculty members, regardless of their citizenship, enjoy a housing subsidy for the first six years.  Detailed information on WISE is available at the website http://www.wise.xmu.edu.cn/english. We will interview selected candidates in San Diego, during the 2020 ASSA meeting.
