Associate Professor or Professor in Property and Real Estate

Join a team of established colleagues within the Deakin University, Department of Finance at our Melbourne Burwood campus!

The Deakin finance discipline is ranked top 76-100 in 2019 ARWU subject ranking and rated “above world standard” in the 2018 round of Excellence in Research Australia.  Staff in the Department are committed to attaining high standards in both research and teaching.  Faculty members in the Department have published in many high-quality journals in both disciplines of Property and Real Estate, and Finance.  They have been successful in obtaining research income from competitive funding schemes, such as the ARC Discovery and Linkage programs, as well as from industry.  The Department is also committed to using the latest teaching and learning technologies to teach content relating to corporate finance, financial markets, banking, and property.

We have an exciting position for an experienced academic in Property and Real Estate to join the Department where as the successful candidate you will lead and contribute to the Department’s teaching programs at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels whilst also undertaking high-quality research and publishing in leading journals relevant to Property and Real Estate.

This is a full-time, level D (associate professor) or level E (full professor), continuing position, based at our Melbourne Burwood campus.  An attractive salary package is on offer inclusive of 17% superannuation and will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and research track record.

Appropriate relocation and/or immigration support will be offered to interstate/international candidates.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • provide leadership which enhances the achievement of the Department’s strategic plan in research, teaching and external engagement
  • teach programs offered by the Department at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including supervision of students at honours and/or doctoral level
  • produce high-quality research in journals of national and international standing including a contribution to the Department’s research agenda and strong performance in Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)
  • to partake in activities which enhance the profile and reputation of the Property and Real Estate discipline
  • develop and maintain relationships with relevant research, community, industry, government and professional partners to establish collaborations and industry partnerships

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • a PhD in an area of relevance to Property and Real Estate
  • experience teaching relevant units/courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels including supervision of honours and/or higher degree by research students
  • a significant research profile including publications in high quality journals
  • evidence of success in obtaining competitive research funding
  • existing relationships and an ability to further enhance engagement with external bodies to enhance the national and international standing of the discipline
