The Department of Economics and Related Studies is ranked among the top 100 economics departments in the world and in the top 10 in the UK. Core to the success of our Department has been the research undertaken in our Macroeconomics & Finance cluster and the MSc Finance. This Professor/Reader in Financial Econometrics will further strengthen the research work in Macroeconomics & Finance consolidating and extending our international reputation as a world-class and vibrant research environment.

The Role
You will undertake a key role in the Department, strengthening the research work in the area of Macroeconomics & Finance. Current areas of strength include asset pricing, financial econometrics and macro-finance as demonstrated by the activities of the Centre for Applied Macro-Finance (CAMF). You will also hold a strong commitment to the promotion of excellence in research, and in teaching and learning. You will be joining a collegiate environment led be a community of academics, dedicated to delivering high quality research, teaching and outreach.

Key requirements: (viewed relative to the level of post applied for – see candidate brief for more details):

  • PhD in Economics, Finance or related area
  • Outstanding and internationally recognised knowledge of relevant subject area
  • Ability to define, lead, manage and attract funds for internationally excellent research
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills
  • Ability to manage and interact with staff and students at all levels
  • Contribute to broadening the strategic development of the Department
  • Substantial publication record in leading peer-reviewed journals
  • Significant and sustained success in securing research grants and other external funding

The Professorial position offers an attractive salary package on the professorial scale commensurate with experience. Reader salary scale, £50,132 - £61,618.
