The Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Finance beginning Fall 2019. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.  Located in the Leatherstocking Region of New York State, SUNY Oneonta is a mid-size, public, liberal arts and sciences college with a pre-professional focus. The College enrolls approximately 6,500 students in a wide variety of bachelor’s degree programs and a number of graduate certificates and degrees. SUNY Oneonta consistently ranks among the top schools nationally, sitting at #13 on the 2018 list of "Top Public Regional Universities" in the North by U.S. News & World Report and #153 in the Northeast on the 2017 Forbes magazine list of "America's Top Colleges." The School of Economics and Business is accredited by AACSB International. It houses two academic departments: the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting and the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems. Three academic majors are offered:  Business Economics, Professional Accounting, and Economics.  The School has 35 faculty/staff and approximately 800 students. Duties include but not limited to:  teaching undergraduate courses in corporation finance, investment, portfolio management, derivative securities and risk management, insurance and other courses to meet department needs; conducting research leading to publications in refereed journals; advising students; fulfilling departmental duties; providing college service; engaging in continuing professional development; incorporating use of Bloomberg terminals in the courses.

Required Qualifications:  earned doctorate degree in finance OR earned doctorate in management with a primary field in finance (ABD considered, doctorate required by time of first renewal notification, on or about Dec. 15, 2020). All applicants must meet the School’s ‘scholarly academic’ qualification criteria for AACSB standards.

Preferred:  college teaching experience in finance; a record of published research in finance; strong interest in teaching in business programs with foundations in economics and management; interest in teaching in a business program that includes diverse viewpoints among participants and preparing graduates for careers in the global context; experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience.
