The Questrom School of Business at Boston University invites applications for the position of Full Professor in the Department of Finance. We are especially interested in applicants who are qualified for and interested in significant leadership and department building activities in the role of Department Chair. The position starts July 1, 2019.

The Finance Department seeks to add to its vibrant community of talented scholars who work in areas at the cutting edge of today’s research in asset pricing, corporate finance, governance and strategy, and risk management. The Department is also home to a thriving Master of Science in Mathematical Finance graduate degree and includes a group of dedicated mathematical finance scholars. Candidates with scholarly interests in three broad areas are preferred: asset pricing and investments, corporate finance, and international finance.

Prospective candidates must have a research track record of original and innovative scholarly work of the highest possible quality and impact and demonstrated skills as able teachers, communicators, and institutional leaders. Candidates for Department Chair should have a commitment to foster collaboration and collegiality within the department, to supporting the scholarship and professional development of the department’s faculty, and to advocate for the interests of the Department. In taking on these responsibilities as well as the usual administrative tasks, the Department Chair will be granted reduced teaching obligations and a service stipend. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

The Finance department believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our research and academic programs. We are especially eager to have join our ranks a colleague who supports our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, diverse, and a place where all constituents can thrive. The Questrom School of Business seeks to continue diversifying our faculty, student and staff ranks, recognizing that diversity of experience and thought deepens the intellectual endeavor. Boston University is an institution with a rich tradition dedicated to inclusion and social justice. We are proud that we were the first American University to award a Ph.D. to a woman.

Applications should include a cover letter, a complete curriculum vitae, three reference letters, and up to three recent publications or working papers in electronic (PDF) format. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2018 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. To ensure full consideration, candidates are encouraged to apply early. Campus interviews will commence in September for a July 1, 2019 start.
