Faculty Position in Finance
The Harold Walter Siebens School of Business at Buena Vista University seeks a dynamic teacher who is committed to excellence in undergraduate business and finance education. The position is a term position, with the possibility of a tenure-track position, depending on the successful candidate’s credentials. The preferred start date is August 27, 2018, with possible delay to a January or August 2019 start date, if necessary for the preferred candidate.
The Business major in the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business is designed to develop in students strong analytical, interpersonal, and professional skills grounded in a comprehensive understanding of contemporary business. The curriculum emphasizes experiential learning. As such, the program offers students a wide range of applied learning opportunities including internships, practicums, attendance at professional conferences, and partnering with faculty on research. Course content emphasizes problem solving in a business context.
The successful candidate will teach a variety of finance courses in the undergraduate curriculum. Beginning in Spring 2019, there will also be an opportunity to take advantage of all new facilities, including a new state of the art trading lab. The ideal candidate will teach basic finance courses in the business core curriculum and general education program, as well as advanced courses in the finance concentration, consistent with his/her credentials and interest.
- The tenure track position requires candidates to have a Ph.D. or DBA with an emphasis in finance.
- The term position requires an M.B.A. or a Doctorate or a Master's degree that includes 18 graduate credits in finance or related area and relevant industry experience. Certification as a CFA or CFP is a strong plus.
- Ability to teach a variety of courses in finance.
- Teaching experience at the university level and/or professional experience in business.
- Ability to teach, advise, and guide the professional development of students.
The Harold Walter Siebens Forum and the Harold Walter Siebens School of Business are currently undergoing a $15.1 million-dollar renovation project to include state of the art classrooms, trading room, and refreshed office, gathering and dining spaces.
