Multiple Positions at SILC Business School of Shanghai University

(Potential Joint Appointments with UTS)

The SHU-UTS SILC Business School of Shanghai University (SILC) invites applications from candidates with strong research and teaching capabilities for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor in multi-disciplinary business areas.

Under its new leadership with a long-term strategic plan, Shanghai University is striving to develop into a first-class comprehensive university in China with a high-level talents training system and a knowledge innovation system as well in proportion to the city’s position as a modern international metropolis. SILC was founded in 1994 with University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as its founding partner, and was the earliest Sino-foreign cooperative business institute established in China. SILC is currently undergoing a strategic expansion into a full-fledged business school that emphasizes teaching and research in all business areas.

SILC have multiple openings to start in the fall of 2018 in the following areas: Market Microstructure, Quantitative Finance, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Macro-finance, International trade and Economics, and Energy/Environmental Economics. Junior candidates are expected to complete a Ph.D. degree by August 2018 and show evidence of promising research and teaching. Senior candidates should have an established record of research and teaching. Initial appointment is based on a three-year probationary contract that is renewable. Qualified candidates will be considered for permanent appointments after a successful completion of their probation duties.

Successful candidates with demonstrated records/potentials will be recommended for jointly funded appointment positions with UTS. The joint appointment is primarily based in Shanghai for 10-11 months per year to teach the dual degree programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with the remaining 1-2 months working in Sydney, Australia to fulfill its duties at UTS.

The SILC/joint appointment offers competitive salary, research funding, housing and travelling subsidies. All applications should email the following in a single PDF document: a cover letter, a curriculum vita, a research/job market paper, and teaching evaluation (if applicable), no later than December 3rd, 2017. In addition, junior candidates should arrange three recommendation letters sent by the letter writers (please ask the letter writers to put the candidate name in the subject line of the email).

We will be conducting interviews at the AEA/AFA meetings in Philadelphia in January 2018.
