The Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech invites applicants for a faculty member in the Program in Real Estate with research and teaching interests in finance and real estate development. Virginia Tech seeks candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the inclusion and diversity goals of the University. This person is expected to teach undergraduate courses in the Real Estate BS degree, mentor student experiential learning, and conduct applied research on issues of relevance to commercial real estate decision making. The Program in Real Estate is an innovative, interdisciplinary academic program housed in the Pamplin College of Business in collaboration with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Architecture and Urban Studies, College of Engineering and College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. The program In Real Estate is committed to educating VT-students with the BS in Real Estate that provides educational breadth and a second degree or minor in a complementary discipline that provides educational depth. The faculty member will typically teach three courses per semester in real estate data analytics, real estate finance, commercial real estate development and other courses as needed related to the candidate’s strength and needs of the program. The faculty member will be active in leading and supporting student experiential learning through development and facilitation of internships and externships, competition teams, field trips, and other venues that bring practice to the students. The faculty member will conduct research in the areas related to their strengths that are of relevance to the commercial real estate industry to foster improved decision making and that incorporate student experiential learning. The successful applicant will interact with core faculty teaching REAL courses and faculty from other disciplines that teach complementary courses required for the real estate major. This is a non-tenure track position and not intended for tenure transfer but advancement in rank is achievable. The position is based in Blacksburg.

Required Qualifications: A PhD in a real estate, finance, economics, statistics or related field. Research in finance, data analytics, or closely related field. Experience working in or knowledge of commercial real estate.

Desired Qualifications: Desire to work in and support an interdisciplinary academic program. Ability to contribute toward a collegial classroom and work environment. Demonstrated passion for working with students of diverse backgrounds and helping them achieve their personal and professional goals.
