Position Title:  Assistant Professor - Finance

The Department of Management, University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in Finance. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence on July 1, 2019.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Finance or a Ph.D. in Economics with a Finance focus by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research, and the demonstrated ability to develop an independent, externally funded research program. Candidates must also demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and be willing to participate in the development and delivery of graduate programs at UTSC. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent and innovative research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, externally funded research program. They must have an emerging record of scholarly accomplishment including publications in leading academic journals, or will provide evidence of excellence in research as demonstrated in a research pipeline that is at high international levels, quality of the job market paper and other publications or working papers submitted with the application, presentations at significant conferences, awards for work in the field and strong endorsements by referees of high international standing. Excellence in teaching can be demonstrated by teaching accomplishments highlighted as part of the application, a teaching dossier (including a teaching statement, sample syllabi, and teaching evaluations), strong endorsements from referees, and evidence of strong communication and expository skills, which can be demonstrated during the interview and lecture presented to faculty and students, if shortlisted.

The successful candidate will be a member of the tri-campus Graduate Department of Management at the University of Toronto, will be cross-appointed to the Joseph L. Rotman School of Management and will be expected to participate in the Graduate Department of Management’s graduate programs.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
